For everyday essentials, turn to menique. A Lithuanian brand is the brainchild of founder Victoria Viburė who was focused on a dream of creating comfortable yet sustainable clothes. With the company’s slogan ‘the heart of comfort’, the team behind this label is developing wardrobe staples that people could wear day to day and feel great without making the planet uncomfortable.

‘By taking sustainability seriously, our focus and the whole concept of the business is longevity. We only produce timeless clothing that is made to last and can be cherished across seasons while don’t end up getting thrown away,’ shares Victoria.

Ever since the brand’s launch in 2015, the minimalist label produces fixed styles from environmentally-friendly fabrics, primarily from 100% Merino wool and Linen. All the suppliers they work with have OEKO-TEX certificates for the fabrics, ensuring that no toxic substances are found on these materials. The brand covers all the basics and activewear for women, men, and kids. It offers a full range of apparel including t-shirts, leggings, underwear, outerwear, and more.

In addition, the label keeps its supply chain short and offers to discover real European craftsmanship. Victoria said: ‘By promoting fair trade and responsible fashion, all clothing is cut and stitched locally in-house by experienced and well-compensated seamstresses. We can assure our clients that our products don’t travel long way from Asia or elsewhere to our warehouse. And also, this helps us to contribute towards lower CO2 emission.’

A sustainable jump into Linen

The latest to be announced by the menique is its brand-new Linen collection for the Spring-Summer season. Continuing its commitment to timeless designs, the contemporary product line features earthy hues, sustainable fabric, and classical silhouettes for modern, independent women.

Timeless and worth the investment – with heavenly comfort levels. To celebrate the new season that nature brings, menique introduces pieces that are perfectly suitable for the warmer weather – floaty blouses, summer dresses, midi skirts, smart bottoms, and cheerful jumpsuits dominate the SS22 collection. There’s something to suit most tastes and preferences. Inspired by nature, the new designs sit alongside menique staples which have been reimagined in a new fabrication – natural OEKO-Tex certified 100% Linen.

‘For us, it was about having a minimal approach to the design aesthetic; we really wanted to focus on the fabric itself because it’s truly the essence of this collection,’ says Erica Butėnaitė, the brand’s curator of design. ‘Our midweight 200gsm Linen is made from naturally grown flax fibers which are free from harmful chemicals and need only rainfall to grow. Compared to cotton, Linen requires 60% less water to grow. Safe for our skin, safe for our planet.’

For ages, Linen has been known as the perfect material for summer, since it has the temperature regulating properties to keep the body cool and sweat-free. However, it’s worth mentioning that this material works well for other seasons too. Erica adds: ‘Linen is lovely when worn alone, but it also looks great when mixed with other materials such as wool or denim during colder weather. Sometimes the perfect outfit just needs a little creativity.’

Inspired by the earth’s beauty – from its ocean blues, stone grays, pastel flowers and warm terracotta tones – each menique apparel from the new collection has been carefully designed to enhance the ethical wardrobe with new additions. And the cherry on top is, the Linen itself is very durable, it won’t lose its shape and still be in great condition for years – future-proof wardrobe essentials.

Please note, menique is striving to minimize its footprint on the environment by avoiding overproduction and by producing only what’s needed – meaning all the Linen clothes are made-to-order only. The menique SS22 collection is available to shop online now.
