RealtimeCampaign.com Explains The Maryland Marijuana Law In Conjunction With College Degrees

With the medical industry evolving rapidly, laws are expected to change to benefit the state and the patients and businesses. According to RealtimeCampaign.com, this industry has recently opened educational programs. Platforms like Green Bits allow businesses of legal retailers to continue growing their business.

Types of Degrees

Major universities are starting to offer cannabis degree programs. Below are 3 of the most popular:

Marketing: whether it’s social media, branding, or web design this type of course is designed to educate one about the business side of this industry.

Biology: this type of degree provides a full education of the plant all around. Biologist study morphology, physiology, anatomy, behavior, origin, and distribution of the plant.

Healthcare: this type of degree opens job opportunities in other industries as well. From medical professionals to disease research, this degree program allows one to be medically educated.

Types of Businesses

Producers or florists solely focuses on growing the plant. Processors take the product from “growers” and gets the plant ready to turn into sellable product. Retailers, also known as dispensaries, provide services to the patients by selling medical substance to them. These products range from actual flower product to edibles, and concentrates. Some retailers may even have plant accessories available too. A recent increase of online businesses is the evolution of the retail business but some states may vary.

Distributors actually sell the plant products to the retailers. A medical doctor in this field is a profession not known to many. Doctors have begun opening their own practices to give medical recommendations and treatment. UCLA, GW Pharmaceuticals, and many universities have begun their own research on this and how it affects humans to help the doctors. Unfortunately, the federal government regulates drugs to the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) (21 U.S.C. Sec. 811), which does not recognize medical or recreational use of this substance.

Maryland Laws

“Providers” (businesses) must have proper registration done with the Maryland Medical Commission. There are many penalties applied if the laws are broken. A few of these include:

Intent To Distribute: Someone found with 50 lbs. or more of this product is charged with a felony with a minimum of 5-20 years in prison and up to 40 years in prison. A $15,000-$1,000,000 fine on top of that is possible. A Subsequent Violation may be felony charge; minimum of 5 years in prison and up to 40 years in prison with a $40,000 fine.

Trafficking: If found with more than 5 and less Than 45 kg is given a felony charge, 10 years in prison, and a $10,000 fine. If it’s 45 kg or more, it’s also a felony charge with 25 years in prison and a $50,000 fine

With the new technology and fields of study, people are getting educated about this plant. Retailers supply the product to the patients. Without the degree programs we have available to us now, patients would not have access to their needed medications.
