Sterling, VA – The highly anticipated Grand Opening of the IGLOO DESIGN CENTER will take place on Saturday, June 21, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the center’s brand-new state-of-the-art facility located at 45915 Maries Rd, Sterling, VA 20166.

THE VISION BEHIND IGLOO DESIGN CENTER

The Igloo Design Center was born out of a shared vision by several seasoned professionals: Kamran Balnour, Shawn Nejad, Cathy and John McCambridge, who recognized the growing need for a truly comprehensive, high-quality solution for residential and commercial design, renovation, and construction.

With decades of combined expertise, the founders created Igloo Design Center as a seamless, one-stop destination for clients to access expert consultation, top-quality products from major brands, and personalized guidance through every stage of design and remodeling — from inspiration to execution.

MEET THE FOUNDERS

Kamran Balnour – Managing Director, Igloo Design Center

A highly respected master plumber with 27 years of experience, Kamran Balnour is the owner of Alan Plumbing & Co, known across Northern Virginia for precision and quality craftsmanship. With extensive experience in both residential and commercial projects — including national brands like Starbucks, Popeyes, IHOP, and McDonald’s — Kamran’s hands-on expertise ensures every Igloo Design Center project is executed to the highest standards. His dedication to mentoring young tradespeople reflects his commitment to developing the next generation of skilled professionals.

Shawn Nejad – CEO, Igloo Design Center

With over 21 years of experience in design and renovation, Shawn Nejad leads Igloo Design Center as its CEO. Holding a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Shawn previously owned and operated Flooring & Cabinet Outlet for over a decade, developing an outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality design solutions. Known for his keen eye for detail and deep industry knowledge, he brings a customer-focused, excellence-driven leadership style to every project. In his personal life, Shawn enjoys traveling, chess, and reading.

Cathy and John McCambridge – Real Estate and Strategic Partners

With over 30 years in real estate, Cathy and John McCambridge are one of the DMV area’s top-producing husband-and-wife teams. Specializing in residential, commercial, and property management, their insights into real estate market trends, property values, and client needs directly shape Igloo Design Center’s offerings. In collaboration with Virginia Tech’s Landscape Architecture program, the garden serves as a living showcase of art, nature, and global cultural exchange, supporting the mission of the Global Humanities Foundation.
